Change is Coming

Change in our industry is not a question of if, but when and while changes are inevitable the way we adapt to them and navigate our business through them is what will determine if these changes are 'good' or 'bad' for us on a case by case basis.

One of the more interesting things I have noticed over the last year as more states become legal (I feel like New York was a HUGE win) is the increasing amount of regulation on the 'traditional' market in numerous ways. There are many farmers I saw in the state of California having an extremely tough time transitioning into the licensed market almost forcing them to stick to what they know. There has been a tremendous amount of pressure from authorities and licensed cultivators to take action against these larger scale traditional grows which in turn ended up burying a lot of people who have been in the business for decades.

With so many people being pushed out of the market we have seen prices all over the place in the last 16 months. In my personal opinion this will stabilize for the time being but as the supply continues to shrink and people walk away from the business all together I think that prices on product will continue to rise again just like we've seen in just about every other sector of the U.S. economy since late 2021.

Just my two cents.
